Ever wonder why you so vividly remember things from your childhood as being so large? That’s because they were. Implications abound – for everything from stereoscopy, women’s equality and – yes – sexuality. Go read it. Thanks to the mission3-d blog group for this very interesting report.

I’ve been out of the loop for a month now. I apologize and vow to make up ground. A lot has happened, including great encounters at fmx09 and a two-week submergence into the Red Sea. I took my laptop along and managed the impossible – I did no work. I just played. Evenings I sat on the patio and dabbled with the videos I’d made that day with our Sea&Sea camera.

One result is this experiment I call POVOV. You have to imagine myself suspended, fighting with limited breath and a viscous environment that is swaying back and forth. The content is the story, the inner frame is the story-teller and the outer frame is you, the audience. It tingles my brain the way the inner frame’s motion (which is nothing more than a stabilization artefact) reveals information about my position and orientation, which influences your reception of the story. And makes this relevant to NPR and film-making in general.
