log_00

I once did a ‘thought’ log – I think it was in 1998. Basically, I jotted down my thoughts for one full year. In 2000 I decided to repeat this process using my (then) brand-new palm pilot. Click on a date to jump to a certain day, the arrows to progress one day fore or backward, and drag the months to get to the second half of the year.

Hi David
interesting to read your thoughts …
But I wonder whether it is such a good idea to make your thoughts available in the internet. Just imagine a conversation like this:
“Herr Maas, you have a great portfolio and we would love to give you the job. But in your thought log we stumbled upon this entry on March 25th: ‘I am hungry, maybe I should go for lunch.’ This has lead us to the conclusion that you are not really goal-oriented. I’m sorry, we have to look for someone else.”
Or even worse:
“Herr Maas, in your thought log on October 19th you wrote: ‘It’s raining outside’. We have to arrest you because you are very likely preparing subversive actions against the state.”

Hi Christopher!
I also thought about that… I figure if someone’s going to browse my abstruse thoughts and find something half way coherent, then they’re already showing so much more effort than ready the up-front self-portrayals at facebook or such.
Worse is the fact that I have no more recollection of what’s in there myself, so if someone where to confront me with something I report doing there, I most likely wouldn’t have a clue!

I think it needs only a litle bit of personal acquaintance to fill in the missing gaps and one can find A LOT of coherent thoughts and recurring themes in your log. If you want, I can give you a short synopsis of ‘The Life of David in the Year 2000′ – but this might end up rather surprising and embarrassing!

Ermmm… should I be scared? I think I should be scared.
