Back in 1999 I visited the Greek island of Corfu. There, in a museum about Byzantine mosaics I saw this (scroll to bottom)

Dear All,
Okay, I’ve now updated my website, and have put a few different images on there. You’ll notice that the new images are brown – this is the way they’ll appear in the book. I thought grey pencil lines would look too dry and academic – something I wanted to avoid at all costs.
